Make Music Day Nassau is part of Make Music Day\, a global music celebration that takes place on the summer solstice each year and brings people of all ages and skill levels around the world together to make music on the same day\, creating a global musical holiday!The Make Music Day Nassau event will take place downtown Fernandina Beach as well as Wildlight 11am-5pm\, on sidewalks\, parks\, businesses and wherever people feel like playing or listening. Last year\, young music students from music schools\, as well as professionals participated. It empowers individuals to seek out ways to celebrate and appreciate the universal appeal and magic of music in our community.Make Music Day began in France in 1982 as the F te de la Musique and has spread to over 2\,000 cities across the globe. This year\, over 150 U.S. cities will host thousands of Make Music performances across the country as part of the world's largest annual music event. Completely different from a typical musical festival\, Make Music Day concerts are performed byanyone\, at any age who wants to take part\, and is enjoyed free by everyone who wants to attend. Live music of all kinds will abound\, performed by singers and musicians from classical to rock.Make Music Day Nassau is a great example of why Amelia Island and Nassau County is one of the state's cultural capitals.
