Free Public Music Making Events to be Held in downtown Amelia

Island and Wildlight as Part of Annual Global Celebration

The 2nd annual Make Music Day Nassau, a wild and wonderful mix of free public musical events, will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Make Music Day Nassau is part of Make Music Day, a global music celebration that takes place on the summer solstice each year and brings people of all ages and skill levels around the world together to make music on the same day, creating a global musical holiday!

The Make Music Day Nassau event will take place downtown Fernandina Beach as well as Wildlight 11am-5pm, on sidewalks, parks, businesses and wherever people feel like playing or listening. Last year, young music students from music schools, as well as professionals participated. It empowers individuals to seek out ways to celebrate and appreciate the universal appeal and magic of music in our community.

Make Music Day began in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique and has spread to over 2,000 cities across the globe. This year, over 150 U.S. cities will host thousands of Make Music performances across the country as part of the world’s largest annual music event. Completely different from a typical musical festival, Make Music Day concerts are performed by

anyone, at any age who wants to take part, and is enjoyed free by everyone who wants to attend. Live music of all kinds will abound, performed by singers and musicians from classical to rock.

Make Music Day Nassau is a great example of why Amelia Island and Nassau County is one of the state’s cultural capitals. Artistic talent can be found overflowing in every neighbor-hood. With performances from individual amateurs to world-class ensembles. Make Music Day Nassau will give all our residents and visitors a chance to experience the city’s diverse musical riches in their own backyards.

Highlights of Make Music Day Nassau include free events in downtown Fernandina, in various venues, and this year it will also debut in the Wildlight community in Yulee.

Any musician, amateur or professional, young or old, is invited to participate by signing up at www.makemusicday.org/nassaucounty; registration closes on June 10, 2026. Likewise, businesses, buildings, schools, churches, and other institutions can visit the website to offer their out-door spaces as concert locations. A full schedule of events will be posted.
